Frequently Asked Questions | Arc Resin Floors

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the floors slippery when wet?

As with any floor, the risk of falling is increased when the surface is wet. Depending on what sealer you choose, this will influence the degree of slip risk. High gloss finishes surprisingly perform very well when dry (similar to your average tile). Slip resistant additives can be added to our sealers to increase slip resistance to around R12 (sealer dependent).

Do they scratch easily?

For greatest scratch resistance we recommend a satin or matte sealer. Gloss sealers have the highest risk for scratching, however if properly maintained and looked after this will reduce the risk of scratching. Scratch resistance waxes can be applied to increase abrasive resistance. Please review our maintenance guide or speak to our team.

Are they easy to clean?

Yes. The nature of a seamless finish without grout lines means these floors can be cleaned easily and efficiently. You can use steam mops and general cleaning methods. Please review our maintenance guide for further information.

What designs are available?

We have unlimited designs available which can include metallic pigments, solid colours, sprays, glitters and flakes. The design choice is endless.

Does it crack easily?

Epoxy is very resistant to cracking, peeling and corrosion. It is extremely hard-wearing however, it is not indestructible.

Is it compatible with underfloor heating?

Yes. There are certain specifications that are required. Please speak to a member of our team for more information.

How long does it take to install a resin floor?

Installation time averages around 3-4 days, however this will depend on subfloor preparation requirements, design choice and size of the project. Maximum work time is usually around 1 week.

What areas are suitable?

All interior areas are suitable in both domestic and commercial settings. Popular domestic areas consist of kitchens, living spaces, bathrooms, hallways, garages and conservatories. Commercial areas usually consist of beauty salons, barbers, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. For commercial use we recommend our most hard wearing sealer and slip resistance.

Are they hygienic?

Yes. Decorative resin floors are very hygienic due to their seamless finish with no grout lines. This means dirt has no place to hide. Furthermore, antibacterial additives can be added to our sealers which reduces the spread of 99.99% of bacteria.

Can they be installed on top of tiles?

The short answer is YES, providing the tiles are well adhered, however we do advise that for greatest longevity that tiles are removed. We are aware with budgets and time frames the ability to remove tiles is not always feasible.
